Dear Parents and Carers,

This week

As we head into the weekend, I would like to share some of the highlights from another busy and successful week at Kirn Primary School.

HMIE Inspection

We have been informed that our HMIE inspection will take place week beginning 16th November. Over the coming weeks we will be preparing to welcome inspectors into our school. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the many strengths of our school community and to share the excellent work taking place across all classes. You have received a letter with more information, through GroupCall with a link to a survey to complete. We would appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to give some feedback. There is an online link for this in the email.

A Spooktacular Halloween!

Our Halloween celebrations have been a huge success this week. A massive thank you goes to our fantastic PTA for organising a truly spooktacular P4-7 Halloween Disco. Pupils had a wonderful time dancing, socialising and enjoying the festivities.

We would also like to thank Ms Black and Ms Headrick for creating an amazingly scary Spooky Corridor. The creativity and effort that went into this experience made it a real highlight for our pupils.

Today, our P1-3 classes enjoyed their Halloween parties and looked absolutely wonderful in their spooky outfits. It was fantastic to see so many imaginative costumes and smiling faces throughout the day.

Choir News

Our school choir began rehearsals this week with Mrs Kent and Mrs Taylor. Pupils are already working hard towards two exciting performances:

  • Kirn Lights Switch On  – 25th November
  • Performing with The Voices of Argyll at their Christmas Concert on 17th December

We are very proud of their enthusiasm and look forward to seeing them perform later in the year.

P7 Careers Fair

Our P7 pupils attended a careers fair at Dunoon Grammar School this week. They returned full of enthusiasm, lots of new ideas about future careers and, of course, plenty of freebies!

As part of their fundraising efforts, our P7 pupils will be involved in running the Benmore Tearoom at DGS on Saturday 7th November.

We would be extremely grateful for any donations of home baking. Donations can be handed into the school office on Friday or taken directly to DGS on Saturday morning. Your support makes a huge difference and is very much appreciated.

Benmore Residential Reminder

A quick reminder for P7 families that Benmore Residential deposits are due today. Please contact the school office if you have any questions regarding payments.

Head Pupils Report

This week Kirn Primary have been doing lots of fun activities (a lot to do with Halloween).

P2, P4, P6, P7/6 and P7 have been doing halloween artwork and carving pumpkins.

P5 wrote an advert for a haunted house. They were also estate agents for the day. Wow, sounds fun!

P7 also made newspaper reports reports about living outside Kirn for a day.

A spooky fact from P2…..did you know, we used to carve turnips instead of pumpkins!!

That’s all for now folks!
