Dear Parents and Carers,
This week
Welcome back to everyone after a nice long break for Easter. It was lovely to see everyone back, happy and smiling and looking so smart in their school uniforms. It’s great to see our children proud to be part of our Kirn team. We’d also like to welcome our new children and their families to our Kirn Community.
This week we’ve been focusing on our Kirn Value of KINDNESS. We’ve all been trying really hard to be kind and lots of our children have been recognised for their efforts.
It’s been a very busy first week. Our P6’s have started their Bikeability course supported by our staff and volunteers. Thanks to all you parents who have supported your children to have everything ready for this. Not an easy task!
The second group of our P7’s are off to Benmore this weekend. We’re sure they’ll have a great time, especially with this beautiful sunshine.
Ms Melville has been working hard organising a tournament at Sandbank for our P6 and P6/5 class on Friday. We wish them all lots of luck!
Mrs Mackenzie’s class had the first of a series of Samba drumming workshops. Roddy who runs the sessions, comes all the way from Glasgow and in his spare time plays with Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5, a popular band on the festival scene! We’re so lucky to be able to have this opportunity with him.
Ms Lamont will be leaving us on Monday to take up a temporary PT post in Kilmodan until the summer. We will miss her but wish her lots of luck. We will be interviewing for a new temporary PT next week and hope to have someone in place by the following week.
We are working hard on our self-evaluation in preparation for our School Improvement Plan. Mrs Taylor will be sending out surveys to gather opinions from all stakeholders so look out for this! We’d appreciate your support in working to continuously improve our school. Share any ideas or comments that you may have.
Upcoming Events

School vision
Last term we began to gather views on our Kirn Primary School Vision, as it was time to refresh it and make sure all stakeholders had their views heard. We are keeping our Kirn Values the same as these are very well referred to and understood by our pupils (Kindness, Inspiring, Respectful and Nurture) and our motto is Excellence, Equality and Effort, as you can find on our school crest. However, we do not have a whole school vision that we are all familiar with and agree. At parents’ evening we started to gather views using a survey and I am sending out the link again today to ask that you kindly complete it so that we have your views. Once this has been collated, we will launch it at a community event before Easter! Here is the link, it will also go out on SeeSaw. https://www.menti.com/aljh6i2acxgw
