Paired reading

Paired reading is a tried and tested way of giving children who can read a greater enthusiasm for reading. Children choose what they want to read and read it with a reading partner who acts as a role model and gives them one-to-one attention and praise.

Kirn Primary are teaming up with Dunoon Grammar School to involve S6 Community Service volunteers. These S6 pupils, who have been trained as Paired Reading partners, will come to Kirn each week to read with their primary school partner.

We are now at the stage where we are beginning to match pairs of reading partners and they are starting to read together.

We hope to organise an evening where parents could come along and find out more about Paired Reading and the benefits it can offer.
